When you’re playing pickleball it’s important to know the rules so that you can avoid any potential arguments or disputes with your opponents.
One rule that is often misunderstood is who can call kitchen fault in pickleball.
The kitchen is an area on the pickleball court that is behind the baseline and extends to the non-volley zone line.
The kitchen is considered out of bounds and if the ball goes into this area it is a kitchen fault.
The player who hit the ball into the kitchen is faulted and the point is awarded to the other team.
There are a few exceptions to this rule.
If the ball hits the ground in the kitchen it is not a fault.
Also if the ball hits the back wall of the kitchen and then bounces back into the court it is not a fault.
If you are not sure whether a ball is in or out of the kitchen you can ask the other players or the referee for help.
Remember it is always better to play by the rules and avoid any arguments or disputes.
